International Outdoor Corporate Counsel in Farmington Hills, Michigan
Legal Litigation Matters; Zoning and Land Use Litigation (75%):
- Handle all aspects of litigation related to commercial disputes, including issues with property owners, contractors, tenants, and third parties.
- Manage commercial zoning litigation and disputes concerning municipal ordinances and land use approvals.
- Represent the company in disputes related to real estate contracts, zoning variances, property development, and municipal approvals.
- Litigate and enforce collection of unpaid invoices related to real estate and advertising agreements.
- Prepare to litigate commercial zoning matters and municipal ordinances disputes.
- Obtain necessary zoning variances, permits, and approvals for billboard placements and real estate development projects.
- Ensure compliance with local and state regulations related to land use, permitting, and signage ordinances.
Lease Management, Real Estate Contracts & Transactions:
- Advise on landlord-tenant issues, negotiate lease terms, and handle disputes related to lease agreements, including evictions.
- Represent the company in negotiations and transactions for real estate leases and development agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate real estate contracts such as purchase agreements, lease agreements, and construction contracts.
- Conduct due diligence on real estate transactions, reviewing title reports, property surveys, environmental assessments, and zoning compliance.
Legal Advisory:
- Stay updated on changes in real estate law, commercial zoning regulations, and litigation practices that could impact the company's operations.
Provide strategic legal counsel on real estate investments, acquisitions, and zoning challenges
Requirements:
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree, licensed to practice law in Michigan.
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in real estate law, with a strong background in litigation, commercial zoning, and municipal ordinances.
- Expertise in all aspects of commercial real estate development, including contract negotiation, property purchases and sales, and land entitlement processes.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in negotiating complex real estate agreements and litigation settlements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple legal projects and transactions simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

We are seeking an in-house General Counsel experienced Attorney with strong litigation skills and expertise in commercial litigation, zoning, municipal ordinances, and real estate law to join our dynamic legal team. We are in office during normal business hours.
