We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Farmington, Connecticut. The successful candidate will play a key role in our financial department, primarily focusing on the monthly closing process, bank reconciliations, and journal entries. This role operates within the retail automotive industry, and the individual will be based in our office with remote work options available in adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the monthly closing process by preparing and verifying journal entries

• Maintain accurate records by performing general ledger reconciliations

• Manage a high volume of financial transactions, ensuring all are processed and recorded accurately

• Utilize advanced Excel skills, including Pivot tables and VLookups, for data analysis and reporting

• Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial documents and statements

• Collaborate with the Controller and Assistant Controller to streamline financial procedures and resolve discrepancies

• Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable to ensure all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with company policies

• Utilize accounting software such as Oracle, QuickBooks, and Sage for various accounting tasks and to prepare financial reports

• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action based on account activity

• Process customer credit applications and maintain accurate customer credit records.

Requirements • Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger

• Proficiency in Journal Entries and Month End Close procedures

• Experience with Oracle and QuickBooks software

• Knowledge of Sage Software and Microsoft Excel

• Ability to work in a team and independently

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
