Farmingdale State College Residence Hall Director in Farmingdale, New York

The Residence Hall Director (RHD) is responsible for helping facilitate a safe, comfortable, fun, inclusive and positive community in the residence halls so students may achieve their academic and personal goals. This position is a 12 month, full-time live-in position. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall administration and operation of a residence hall, including, but not limited to training and supervising student staff, coordination of programming, community development and discipline, assisting with summer conference housing, working on departmental committees and special assignments, helping and participating in college functions and committees. The RHD serves on a Residence Life duty rotation. Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Residence Life experience: 2 years RA or RD experience.

  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience working with diverse student population.

  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly.

  • Team player.

  • Self motivated and ability to work autonomously.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and/or Adobe Illustrator suite, etc.

  • Professional and accountable work ethic.

  • Creative, innovative and strong problem solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree.

  • Experience with planning programs.

  • Experience with student discipline and/or conflict resolution.

  • Experience with assessment tools.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, August 22, 2024, and ending Thursday, September 5, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled

  • SALARY: $50,000 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $53,400 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
