Precipart located in Farmingdale, NY, is looking to hire an Associate Sourcing Engineer to join our team. The Associate Sourcing Engineer identifies suppliers for new business opportunities and executes the supplier quoting process. They support the development of supply partners in line with the defined sourcing strategy on demand. The focus of this role is on building, maintaining and executing a robust and efficient quoting process to successfully increase new business hit rate for sourced components. There will be partial involvement with manufacturing outsource activities as well. This position is tailored for a recent college graduate with a background in mechanical engineering or a related field, serving as an entry-level opportunity to kickstart your career journey. The Associate Sourcing Engineer will work towards to developing increased autonomy over time with the opportunity to advance to a Sourcing Engineering position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Identify and select potential suppliers for new business opportunities in alignment with supervisor and according to the defined sourcing strategy

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and select suppliers based on their capabilities, quality systems, capacity and cost-effectiveness

• Issue RFQs to suppliers

• Monitor outstanding RFQs and follow up with suppliers for timely responses to RFQs.

• Collect supplier feedback, supplier quotes and issues comparative bid analysis (cost, quality, technical) as decision base for supplier selection

• Monitor received supplier proposals and coordinates with Business Development to provide timely updates to suppliers.

• Support outsourcing efforts of the manufacturing team by providing technical and commercial support in supplier selection and part qualification, in close alignment with SQE

• Propose supplier selection for new business opportunities in line with global sourcing strategy and Precipart’s risk management model

• Partner with Business Development to develop successful customer proposals based on validated supplier quotations

• Assure supplier feasibility evaluations during the quoting process

• Support the transition from supplier quotation to placed order for received business by coordinating with Project Management, Business Development, Customer Accounts, and Quality Systems.

• Support the continuous development and improvement of Precipart’s Global Sourcing strategy

• Visit incumbent and potential supply partners both domestic and international to understand their capabilities and to support the relationship

• Responsible for conforming with the company’s quality management system requirements, as well as contributing to its overall effectiveness, and the ultimate goals of customer satisfaction, product compliance and ethical practices/behavior

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of technical study

• Completed at least one internship which aligns with required field of study.

• Basic knowledge of one or more key manufacturing technologies (Turning, Milling, Grinding, EDM, Metal Injection Molding etc.)

• Basic ability to read technical drawings. (dimensions, tolerances, title blocks, etc.) Microsoft Office 365 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (email/calendar)

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

• Is forward thinking, flexible and adapts easily to change

• Self-starter with the ability to manage the workload independently

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail

• Domestic and international travel up to 20%

  PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION

• Master, Bachelor, or Minor in Business Administration or another related field

• Basic knowledge of Validation (IQ, OQ, PQ, PPAP) and Quality core tools such as FMEA, 8D, MSA

• Basic knowledge of metrology practices and inspection equipment (Geometric Tolerancing, Optical Measurement Systems, Gage System, etc.)

• Knowledge in VA/VE projects

• Basic understanding of Procurement and Supply Chain processes

• Auditing experience

• Speaks German and/or French

  AY RANGE: $70,000 to $75,000 a year
