POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for design, administration and communication of employee benefits in all LiDestri operations. As needed, provides special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans. Surveys industry and/or community to determine company's competitive position in employee benefits. Develops, recommends, and installs approved, new, or modified plans and employee benefit policies, and supervises administration of existing plans. Develops cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to company and employee. Oversees HRIS system.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, evaluate and modify benefits policies to ensure that programs are current, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements in all locations. Oversees and/or administers employee benefits programs such as retirement plans; medical plans, dental plans; term life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and accidental death policies, etc.
Evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information. Analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by management
Develops census data and solicits insurance companies for quotations. Evaluates quotations and makes recommendations to management. Develops company cost information for new plans and makes recommendations to management concerning sharing of cost between employer and employee. Tracks and reports benefits costs
Installs approved new plans and changes by preparing announcement material, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees. Conducts employee meetings and arranges for enrollment of employees in benefits plans. Revises and reissues all communications material on benefits from time to time. Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits. Manage the design and development of tools to assist employees in benefits selection
Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit program. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance
Fulfill all reporting requirements of all relevant government rules and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits; and reports necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinates company benefits, with government sponsored programs
Identify and implement benefits to increase the quality of life for employees, by working with brokers and researching benefits issues. Develops benefit information and statistical and census data for actuaries, insurance carriers, and management
Coordinate with site Human Resource Managers and be a point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related questions and concerns
Oversees payroll function; ensures proper systems and procedures are in place for accurate processing of payroll
Responsible for overall function of HRIS and timekeeping systems; including evaluation of system effectiveness, implementation of updates/revisions due to policy or regulatory changes. Ensures audits are conducted to ensure accuracy of information in HRIS and timekeeping systems
Manage and maintain company-wide employee data within the overall integrated HRIS payroll, and within related ancillary systems. Guide and support HR team members and management in the resolution of routine and complex systems related issues and queries
Work collaboratively with HR team members, internal stakeholders and HRIS vendors to ensure the optimization and functionality of the HRIS systems
Streamline/automate and document procedures to enhance the integrity of HRIS data, reporting capabilities and development of HR metrics
Proactively research trends in HR systems and makes recommendations to VP of Human Resources for continuous improvement of systems
Management and development of staff; establishment of goals and objectives, evaluates performance, coaches and counsels; Coach, mentor and develop staff, including preparing and conducting employee performance appraisal
Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and/or five (5) years+ experience in Benefits Management, preferably in manufacturing industry
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) preferred
Knowledge of and demonstrated application of compliance to ACA, ERISA and other key benefits laws/regulations
Experience in management of payroll function preferred
Strong systems background (HRIS)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Able to develop presentations and effectively present to and train managers, supervisors, and employees
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regularly required to sit, use hands
Occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, with a potential of up to 25 pounds
Sedentary office environment
Occasional exposure to manufacturing plant floor requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, bump cap, skid-resistant leather shoes, etc.)
Must follow Good Manufacturing Practice (hair net, no jewelry, no fake nails or eyelashes, no food/drink, gum, etc. in manufacturing Plant)
