HOW A DATA ENGINEER SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Assist with design of Java EE/Jakarta EE software using object-oriented design patterns
Contribute to the development and improvement of our data infrastructure, using open-source technologies and cloud-native services
Responsible for migrating data from legacy software applications stored in databases
Create well-designed and tested code using best practices for web development, including for responsive design and mobile display
Monitor and solve data pipelines, proactively identifying and resolving issues to maintain high availability
Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain algorithmic and mathematical solutions.
Develop applications to solve highly complex technical challenges
Manage and orchestrate our data pipelines
Build and maintain systems that collect, manage, and convert data into usable information
Debug software problems and provide solutions
Develop software requirements
Document verification and validation of solution sets and protocols
Perform routine site audits, as well as ongoing maintenance, on an as-needed basis
Participate actively in agile development sprints, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
Ensure compliance with software standards
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (in computer science, engineering or mathematics)
Required Experience:
Twelve (12) years of related experience
Security Clearance Level:
Must be clearable for a position of Public Trust and standard background investigation check
Required Skills and Abilities:
Extensive experience using Java EE/Jakarta EE/ Scala, Python, and R
Experience with ORM frameworks (Eclipselink, Hibernate)
Experience working within an Agile development environment
Experience with DevOps CI/CD utilizing technologies such as GIT/Bitbucket, TerraForm and Jenkins (i.e. deployment pipeline automation)
Experience implementing various software life cycles including Agile/Scrum
Experience with Ansible and/or containerization/virtualization desired (ex: Docker, Podman, Skopeo, Buildah, Kubernetes, Openshift)
Hands on experience with Big Data Platforms: Cloudera, Horton Works, Hadoop, Data Bricks, Data Robot
Linux knowledge/experience
Extensive knowledge of SQL, XML JSON, YAML, and experience with relational databases
Familiar with Big Data architecture and solutions
Familiar with Data Ingestion Architecture
Experience with Kinetica, GPU based computing
Experience working with Data Lakes, Big Data Platforms hosted on AWS
Demonstrated strength in solving complex problems
Preferred Experience, Skills, and/or Certifications:
FAA National Airspace System (NAS) experience
Traffic Flow Management (TFM) experience
Agile certification (PMI-ACP or SAFe certification)

The likely salary range for this position is $94,676 - $128,092. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
