Description

Robert Half is recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a growing non-profit in Fairfax, VA!

As the Payroll and Accounts Receivable Specialist, you will be responsible for processing payroll, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting staff members, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Process payroll accurately and timely for employees, including calculating wages, reviewing timesheets, and ensuring compliance with payroll laws and regulations.

  • Payroll Administration: Maintain employee payroll records, including deductions, taxes, and other payroll-related information. Respond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues as needed.

  • Accounts Receivable Management: Generate customer invoices accurately and promptly, record cash receipts, and reconcile accounts receivable transactions. Follow up on overdue accounts and communicate with customers regarding payment inquiries or discrepancies.

  • Billing and Invoicing: Prepare and send invoices for services rendered, grants received, or other billable items. Ensure invoices are accurate, properly coded, and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Revenue Reconciliation: Reconcile revenue accounts, including grants, donations, and program fees, to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports and analyses related to payroll, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition. Provide support for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with payroll laws, accounting standards, and internal controls related to payroll processing and accounts receivable management. Assist in audits and reviews by providing documentation and support as needed.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in payroll and accounts receivable processes. Implement best practices and streamline workflows to optimize efficiency and accuracy.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and accounts receivable management, preferably in a nonprofit or similar environment.

  • Proficiency in payroll software (ADP preferred) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).

  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and accounting principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees, customers, and donors.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
