Mobile Communications America Installation Technician in Fairfax, Virginia

In this role, you will be responsible for installing and configuring fixed network infrastructure equipment, including repeaters and related systems. Attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to quality will be crucial to the success of our projects.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Install and configure fixed network infrastructure equipment, including repeaters and associated systems.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the successful completion of network installations.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, making necessary repairs and adjustments.

  • Maintain accurate records of installations and equipment configurations.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure best practices in network installations.

  • Assist in the removal and installation of mobile communications equipment.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing existing equipment installations as required.

  • Assist in the removal and installation of other types of 12-volt electronic equipment such as Emergency Lights and Controllers, Sirens, Mobile Computer and Docking stations, Radio Chargers, Mobile Video recording equipment, GPS equipment, equipment consoles, safety cages, etc.

  • Complete pre-and post-installation checklists to document and ensure the operation of the vehicle’s existing accessories, lights, and other components.

  • Document the physical condition of the vehicle before and after work is completed.

  • Document customer information, details of work performed, hours worked, parts used, specific instructions from the customer, etc.

  • Responsible for accurate reporting in time tracking systems each week before the day/time determined by the manager.

  • Responsible for proper maintenance of all tools, test equipment, company-owned computer equipment, company-owned cellular telephones, and company vehicles assigned.

  • Responsible for calibration of assigned test equipment and keeping the test equipment database up to date.

  • Responsible for processing all expense reports within the MCA Company Guideline.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing mobile communications equipment. 

  • Team-focused with a passion to meet customer needs.

  • Strong communications skills for end users and third parties.

  • Resourceful technician sometimes needs assistance/guidance from others.

  • Understanding of / willingness to learn two-way radio theory.

  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to pass a 7-year background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen.

YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

On-call for critical systems maintenance may be required. First shift hours Monday – Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.

Travel as necessary to support company and customer needs.
