Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a FinOps/Cloud Cost Analyst, who will be the cost optimization expert for our National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) customer. You will work with the customer on optimizing their Cloud spend, including purchasing Reserved Instances and Savings Plans. You will also be the billing expert available for training customers on understanding Cloud usage and patterns and champion and advocate for the use of our automated tools.

Additionally you will provide financial operations training and drive user experience improvements, adoption of processes, and FinOps education.

You will also support the NIAID Cloud Hosting team in delivering highly communicative and financial reports that provide customers with their usage, monthly billing, and funding utilization.

Work Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

HOW A FINOPS/CLOUD COST ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Collaborate with architects and clients to establish cloud economics tools and platforms based on Federal and Industry Cloud FinOps best practices.

  • Develop agency and program specific framework for FinOps principals, personas (roles), domains (areas of focus) and roadmap for Cloud FinOps to provide financial recommendations for cloud usage.

  • Collaborate with staff on cloud improvements. Create and present financial models and reports. Continuously monitor cost of services and perform Total Cost of Ownership studies.

  • Manage central financial control center to promote cost transparency.

  • Identify and categorize services by sub-accounts.

  • Help develop the billing and analytics engines of the centralized decision-making portal.

  • Create and present financial models and reports.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

● Education: FinOps Certified at the Practitioner or Professional level is required.

● Required Experience: 5 + years of experience with IT systems and, cloud systems or cloud financial/economics experience.

● Required Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working with stakeholders and development teams. Strong communication skills, oral and written, to convey cloud technologies and solutions to customer personnel.

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of specific FinOps tools such as CloudAbility, CloudCheckr and cloud native cost optimization tools

● Location : Remote, with up to 10% Travel

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a NIH Public Trust

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and be able to convey cloud technologies and solutions to customer personnel

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of FinOps tools such as Apptio, CloudZero, or CloudCheckr

  • Experience in building and operating financial control and analysis systems such as cloud cost analysis and chargeback models

  • Experience working with stakeholders and development teams
