General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) – Federal Civilian Division is currently looking for a Communications Specialist Senior to join our team in support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – Office of Readiness and Response (ORR). This position is for fulltime employment and supporting a customer located in Atlanta, Georgia.

ORR’s mission is to advance the nation’s preparedness and response for public health emergencies and threats. They work alongside CDC peers, other federal partners, and state, local, tribal, and territorial health departments to continuously monitor for risks to the health of communities and the nation and when a concern is identified, they work to get the right experts and resources in place to address the emergency and protect the health of Americans and people around the globe. The purpose of this position is to support ORR, its Offices, and Divisions in implementing and adopting the existing Graduated Response Framework (GRF) (https://intranet.cdc.gov/orr/deo/grf/index.htm) and further enhancing the accompanying resource repository as needed. Significant activities include stakeholder engagement, project/program support, promotion of framework thru various means, editorial/508 compliance support, organizational design, data management strategies, operational coordination, and strategic planning support.

HOW A COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Partner with existing GDIT staff, prime contractor staff, and Federal staff to coordinate efforts to accomplish tasks

  • Lead or assist in project tracking, scheduling processes, and the development of technical project plans, reports, and deliverables, while analyzing procedures and utilizing a variety of management techniques to enhance team efficiency

  • Participate in and coordinate the development of various deliverables and products, including GRF promotion materials, technical response materials, and meeting materials.

  • Provide detailed proofreading of documents for alignment with emergency preparedness and response principles

  • Attend customer meetings and may serve as client liaison

  • Participate in and coordinate development of deliverables and products

  • Communicate daily with project team regarding updates and status of deliverables that require attention and action

  • Provide consultation services to the CDC to resolve critical matters, questions, problems, and issues involving the provision of public health and emergency preparedness topics

  • Liaise with other teams within CDC as needed

  • Ensure the timeliness, consistency, and accuracy of all information

  • Work with the project team and respective stakeholders to revise documents, processes, etc. based on feedback and reports

  • Provide operational support and coordination of activities including scheduling meetings of stakeholders throughout CDC; coordinating with subject matter experts to facilitate the execution of sub-projects

  • Maintain overall understanding of sub-projects to handle administrative needs such as scheduling meetings or capturing meeting notes/action items

  • Support development and execution of comprehensive strategies to promote awareness and understanding of the GRF within the organization and among relevant stakeholders

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Communications, Business, or a related discipline. Masters in Public Health preferred.

  • 5 + years experience in Public Health, emergency preparedness, and/or relevant CDC experience

  • Client relationship management and consulting experience

  • Knowledge of CDC processes, policies, procedures, and regulations preferred

  • Ability to obtain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) clearance.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in an emergency response setting highly desirable

  • Demonstrated eagerness to identify and solve problems

  • Ability to effectively utilize key software programs, including SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Forms, and PowerPoint) to provide client deliverables

  • Impeccable proof-reading skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Flexibility to adjust priorities to reflect changing client needs

  • Strong responsiveness to emails and Microsoft Teams chats

  • Self-starter to identify and suggest projects and solutions, while balancing prime contractor and client relationships and perspectives

The likely salary range for this position is $79,050 - $106,950. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
