The Systems Engineering Solutions Strategic Business Unit provides advanced systems engineering and technology applications for intelligence and information enterprises. These applications and solutions deliver enterprise data management, data analytics, modeling and simulation, and technology assessment capabilities that are used to create products that offer actionable information in support of warfighters and decision makers.

Engineer I - Software

What You’ll Do:

  • Join a diverse team of skilled engineers conducting leading edge development for the US Space Force.

  • Work in a team-oriented environment to use modern and emerging technologies to optimize the next generation of event driven applications in a cloud computing environment for Windows and Linux.

  • Work with a fast-paced software team to provide our customer with a total software solution.

  • Develop services and microservices in at least two of the following languages: Java, Python, C++ or JavaScript

  • Develop and update Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to support the testing, building and deploying of microservices into OpenShift.

  • Using a DevSecOps software development pipeline, develop, test, deploy and maintain and/or improve the performance of existing or new software services. Services will run in an Event Driven Architecture (EDA) in the Cloud or On-Premise hardware.

  • Coordinate with other teams to coordinate needs and interfaces.

  • Support customers with integration, testing and deployment of services

  • Individual must be able to work well within an Agile development team environment under evolving priorities.

  • Communicate effectively with a team.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.

  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Experience with Docker.

  • Experience with code versioning system such as Git.

  • Experience with at least 2 of the following languages: C++, Java, Python or JavaScript.

  • Desired: Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment.

  • Desired: Experience with Open Shift/ Kubernetes container management.

  • Desired: Experience with Databases: Oracle, PostGres, Mongo.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.

  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.

  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Future Clearance Required:

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $84,000 - $104,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
