Position Summary:UAF is looking for motivated student employees interested in working with elementary school students to assist in math, reading and science. Eligible students will be placed in a local elementary school to work alongside teachers and staff to work with kids on homework and class assignments. Applicants must be eligible for Federal Work Study and can apply for work study through the FAFSA.

Duties:

50 Assist teachers with assignments in classroom setting; grade tests and homework assignments; Work individually with students or in small groups to assist with homework assignments Essential

50 Read to groups of children in a classroom or library setting Essential

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Proficiency in written and oral communication, have the ability to follow directions and timelines

with limited supervision; strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Experience & Education:

Experience handling confidential records and working with children preferred

Required Experience & Education:

Must have transportation or ability to access bus system (position is off-campus); Must be

eligible for Federal Work Study (complete the FAFSA to determine eligibility); Must be enrolled

half time and in good academic standing

Salary Information:

This is a part-time, student work study, non-exempt position. Starting rate is $16.00 per hour.
