Cummins Inc. Field Service Diesel Technician in Fairbanks, Alaska

DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to engines at the customer’s site.

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Fairbanks, AK). will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

(Intermediate):

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs

  • Performs engine overhauls with limited direct supervision

QUALIFICATIONS

On-site technician serving both in shop and field service jobs for interior Alaska.

Must be self-motivated, professional, and experienced to tackle diagnostic and repair work on light duty and heavy-duty applications across the Cummins lineup. Requires effective communication, following processes and procedures, and a safety mindset utilizing proper PPE and equipment, Growth / advancement opportunities available with on the clock training available both online and in person.

3+ years of diesel experience preferred

Power Gen, HHP, and/or Mining Experience recommended but not required

**This position will require a Med-Card and we will also be required to complete a DMV driving report. ORDER, DOT Physical and DMV Report.

DOT

  • A current valid license is required for this role

  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical

  • 3 years driving experience

  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Basic level field service work experience

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Customer service experience

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
