GE Aerospace Engineer - Exhaust Mechanical Design in Evendale, Ohio

Job Description Summary

Activities contributing to the design and development of exhaust system hardware. Includes mechanical analysis, design, interfacing with drafting team to issue drawings, and working with manufacturing team to deliver parts. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned components using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for Nozzle technology development, working closely with drafting, manufacturing & test teams.

  • Developing knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy..

  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions within set parameters with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills. Provides informal guidance to new team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Professional experience in Design Engineering

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance at the secret level.

Desired Characteristics

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Design Engineering

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Existing US Government Secret clearance

  • Demonstrated experience with exhaust nozzles, structures, ducts and liners

  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

  • Familiarity with GE design practices, processes and products

  • Engine design familiarization

  • Operational experience working in and managing complex, distributed teams

  • Systems level thinking in a teaming environment

  • Ability to navigate ambiguous design challenges/scenarios and solve open ended problems with limited requirements

  • Desire to lead projects with established project management skills

  • Innovation and creativity

  • Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach

  • Ability to guide and influence others.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
