Role Summary

The Acoustics Engineer will work with the Acoustics team to perform community noise assessments for commercial aircraft while identifying opportunities for overall engine, component and cabin noise reduction. In this role, you will support full and subscale acoustic testing through test planning, data decomposition, and reporting out of noise results. In addition, the Acoustics Engineer will help develop internal acoustic tools and use computational aeroacoustic (CAA) methods to assess commercial aircraft engine component and system noise.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Acoustics Engineer, you will:

  • Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, acoustic analysis, design, test, and integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and product requirements

  • Document and communicate acoustic design, analysis, and test data results

  • Perform computational aeroacoustics (CAA) analyses

  • Design and assess acoustic liners and treatment technologies utilizing a range of in-house and commercial tools

  • Support the acoustics team through computational modeling, tool development, and validation

  • Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers

  • Assist with the preparation and execution of test programs achieving test objectives within schedule and budget guidelines

  • Contribute to process improvement, sharing lessons learned, and best practice documentation

  • Interface with internal leadership, suppliers, partners, and airframe customers

  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company

  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis on acoustics

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant acoustics experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Master of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline with an emphasis on acoustics

  • Familiarity of acoustic testing, data post-processing, and evaluation within the aviation industry

  • Experience performing computational analyses on high performance computing (HPC) resources

  • Ability to document, plan, and manage technical programs

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
