Job Title: Quality Lab Technician

Job Description

The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for performing duties on the production floor to conduct in-process inspection of batches made in production and activities related to the production process and technical lab. Additionally, they are responsible for any other tasks assigned by the Technical Lab Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized lab

  • Print batch tickets and drum tags for production

  • Ensure that all batch tickets are completely filled out

  • Enter batch information into Word and Excel files

  • Scan batch tickets and maintain an electronic database

  • Issue corrections for material not meeting viscosity specifications

  • Perform all required testing for production batches as indicated on the batch ticket

  • Write hold tickets for nonconforming batches and materials

  • Perform 3 and 30 day retain viscosity checks

  • Perform final inspection of finished goods as needed

  • Report updates to the next shift’s Lab Technician

  • Operate a forklift (training will be provided)

  • Inspect incoming raw materials, if needed

  • Perform Dock Audits on the production floor

  • Perform split duties between lab and production: 60% lab and 40% production

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Quality experience is preferred but not required

  • Mobile equipment experience is preferred but not required

  • Proficient in SPC & SAP is preferred but not required

  • Good knowledge of chemistry and math

  • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Chemistry, or related field is preferred but not required

Work Environment

The work environment is a chemical plant with 98% automotive material production. The climate-controlled work environment includes exposure to moving equipment, noise, fumes, vibrations, dust, etc. Work requires overhead reaching, twisting, turning, pivoting, bending, crouching, standing for 8-10 hour shifts, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, moving on and off a forklift, and cleaning equipment/products/floor. Shifts are as follows: 1st shift: 5:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday; 2nd shift: 3:30pm – 2:00am, Monday – Friday. Weekend work may be scheduled based on needs or voluntarily, with mandatory weekends possible. Overtime is potential based on business needs, and schedules are posted weekly. Attire includes steel-toed shoes, and PPE such as safety glasses, respirators, gloves, and earbuds are provided.

This is a Contract To Hire position based out of Evansville, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
