About Evansville State Hospital :

Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals who are committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Residing on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders from our dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals directed towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible.

Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $93,002.00, but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Direct and coordinate hospital’s financial and budget activities to fund operations and maximize efficiencies.

  • Direct and develop cost analysis throughout the facility’s operation including all points to improve cost effectiveness of facility expenditures.

  • Provide consultation and recommendations to the appointing authority and senior executive board on the financial impact of various programs, policies and actions, identifying work methods and performance measures for fiscal functions.

  • Direct the purchasing department in maintaining and securing all materials and supplies in accordance with IDOA and E Procurement directives.

  • Oversee the management and operations of the Business Administration Department, setting goals and accountabilities ensuring the accurate maintenance of hospital accounts, ledgers, and records.

  • Oversee the management and operations of the Maintenance Department, setting goals and accountabilities ensuring the buildings, grounds, equipment and vehicle fleet are maintained to comply with applicable laws, regulations and standards. Participates in the development, planning, and oversight of capital projects.

  • Oversee the management and operations of the Management of Information Department, setting goals and accountabilities ensuring that information systems, including hardware and software, are procured, and maintained to support the hospital’s needs, and monitoring and reporting complies with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

  • Oversee the management and operations of the Environmental Services/Material Management Department, setting goals and accountabilities, ensuring the cleanliness of the hospital and maintenance of supplies complies with applicable regulations and standards.

  • Oversee the management and operations of the Nutrition Services Department, setting goals and accountabilities ensuring the patients’ nutritional needs are met and food and equipment handling is in accordance with applicable regulations and standards.

  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.

  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.  Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures. 

  • Some essential functions of this position may be performed onsite at the agency’s worksite or other assigned worksites while some essential functions of this position may be eligible for work from home authorization in accordance with policy. Remote work authorization is not automatic and is dependent upon operational needs and agency approval.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  • Extensive knowledge of State Hospital operations, management, and fiscal responsibility.

  • Thorough knowledge of budgeting and finances related to operations of a psychiatric hospital within the State of Indiana.

  • Working knowledge of principles of public administration and ability to supervise, plan, organize, and coordinate the program and activities of staff.

  • Working knowledge of administrative and personnel techniques as related to the supervision and direction of departments.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to train, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinates.

  • Ability to analyze program needs and effectiveness and to formulate plans for change to carry out the mission of the hospital more adequately.

  • Ability to cope with unexpected and unforeseen difficulties that periodically arise.

  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
