The Opportunity:

The Evadale Operations Master Blackbelt serves as a business partner providing the link between Operational Excellence and Mill Leaders to build a culture of Continuous Improvement, support overall business strategy, obtain critical support and resources, execute on a single productivity agenda by ensuring projects are measurable and implemented using the data driven approach of lean six sigma methodology and principles to drive productivity results while ensuring customer satisfaction of the world\u2019s most admired brands. The Master Blackbelt will execute projects using Lean-Six Sigma Tools and Methodology to increase customer satisfaction and increase the bottom line. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly self-motivated candidate to support the business leaders in leading Continuous Improvement through a collaborative, data based, common sense approach, develop a network, establish a reputation for exceptional performance, and learn about our company. The ideal candidate has a bias for Execution, Accelerate, and Accountability. This position is located onsite at the WestRock Evadale Mill in Evadale, TX.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  • Participate as a strategic thought partner of the Evadale Leadership Team

  • Lead and Manage the Continuous Improvement Process for the Evadale Mill.

  • Aligns overall productivity project pipeline with annual financial plan and division objectives.

  • Ensures Evadale is resourced and in alignment with their expected annual Operating Plan

  • Work effectively with operations to translate process improvement findings into sustained improvements and standard work.

  • Understanding of financial models used to support project selection and track P/L improvement.

  • Utilize the Lean-Six Sigma Methodology (training provided) to improve business processes.

  • Successfully lead concurrent lean six sigma projects with significant P/L improvement.

  • May be asked to work on projects involving customers, customer service and sales personnel to understand customer requirements and proactively address concerns.

  • Coach using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology as needed.

  • Subject matter expert in one or more departmental areas of a paper mill (pulp mill, paper machine, etc.)

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with progressive career growth.

  • Experience in change management and organizational redesign.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor\u2019s Degree: Paper Science and Chemical Engineering strongly preferred.

  • 2+ years\u2019 experience in a paper mill - Required.

  • 2+ years\u2019 experience as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with a demonstrated project portfolio of successful DMAICs and Kaizens.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute projects using team-based, data-based approach.

  • Ability to coach, teach and mentor technical and non-technical matters.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.

  • Software skills include Quantum Excel, PI, Visio, and/or SharePoint ASQ BB certification.

  • Have the desire and potential to advance within the organization in 3 to 5 years.

  • Maintain confidence, drive, and a sense of urgency towards getting results (Action biased).

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills at all organizational levels.

  • Skilled decision maker and systemic problem solver.

  • Ability to Positively Influence and Persuade Others.

  • Capable of assuming authority as necessary.

  • This position may require up to 10% travel based on project priorities.
