Global Foundries US (Vermont) Electronics Rebuild Technician Intern (Summer 2025) in Essex Junction, Vermont

Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries is seeking a skilled and motivated technician intern to develop, implement, and support the electronic repair center (ERC) for Fab 8, in Essex Junction, VT. This position is being developed to assist in productivity improvements for semiconductor equipment, which is accomplished by enabling higher equipment availability and a reduction in spending. This position is in the 200mm factory in Essex Junction, Vermont.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Help develop new repair capabilities – ex: robot repair, microcontroller programming, circuit design

  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing electronic devices, including hardware and software issues.

  • Electronic component parts research.

  • Support senior technicians in soldering, component replacement, and circuit troubleshooting.

  • Perform basic tasks such as device cleaning, reassembly, and software installation.

  • Maintain and organize tools, equipment, and inventory in the repair workshop.

  • Provide excellent customer support by answering questions and explaining repair processes.

  • Document repair processes and update service records.

  • Adhere to safety and quality standards during all repair activities.

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning, and skills development

  • Strong team member, able to work well with a global team

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience - Enrolled in a 2 Year Associates Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Technology, Automotive, Industrial, HVAC, Advanced Manufacturing, Aviation, or a related discipline.

  • Strong academic standing

  • Able to sit or stand for an extended period of time

  • Individuals must be well versed in all Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint …)

  • Language Fluency:  English (Written & Verbal)

  • Ability to work 8 hour shifts - Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

  • Able to work in cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements

  • Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (any object greater than 50lbs require two-person lift)

  • Perform semi-skilled and unskilled labor duties related to maintenance and repair of semiconductor equipment using hand tools
