Carmeuse Americas Lab Technician 4/Team Lead in ERIE, Pennsylvania

Job Summary:

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: sampling, preparing and testing, at specified intervals, sand, aggregate, AgLime, and Storm Water runoff for PENNDOT, Federal, State, and/or Company standards, data entry of all quality results from laboratory testing including but not limited to generation of certificates, reports and electronic data entry. Responsible to monitor laboratory and site conditions and calibrated/non-calibrated Weights and Measures equipment, reporting conditions that could lead to product nonconformity, and correcting or having corrected equipment irregularities. Maintain the lab and site Weights and Measures equipment in high state of cleanliness while following General Laboratory Practices and safety procedures. Maintain good working relations with PADOT regulatory personnel and funnel PADOT and customer concerns to the appropriate entities. Coordinate production and production activities as it pertains to or impacts site aggregate processes

Other job functions may include: Ensure compliance with documented procedures, work instructions and guidelines; provide documentation & maintenance of quality records; initiate actions to prevent production and release of non-conforming product/s until deficiency or non-conforming product has been corrected within area of responsibility; and other duties as assigned by management. May be called upon from time to time to assist in Dock and/or Truck Scale activities.

Job Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel, ability to learn SAP and other computer based tracking systems; strong math and organizational skills along with ability to meet deadlines; ability to read and interpret technical procedures and drawings; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and/or in a team environment; high level of integrity and motivation. Background in chemical and laboratory experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is a plus.

Work in this class will include sitting, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and heavy lifting with assistance. Work will include both indoor and outdoor activity where the employee is exposed to natural elements. Employee will be working with oils, greases, and chemicals and must be able to maneuver in tight places, climb ladders, step on and off equipment, and operate a motor vehicle- they are expected to use proper PPE and safety apparel in all areas of the job function. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to petroleum products, and wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
