Penn State Behrend is accepting applications for a Director of Enrollment Management to lead its admissions and financial aid functions to the next level of success. The individual in this position is charged with envisioning and executing on enrollment strategies that encompass first-year traditional, transfer, and graduate students as well as non-traditional adult learners. Penn State Behrend also has successful online programs offered in partnership with Penn State’s World Campus that make up a growing part of the portfolio.

The position reports to the Chancellor of the College and provides vision, leadership, and direction of the college’s enrollment management units, including admissions and student aid functions. The Director is responsible for developing annual and long-term recruitment goals based on the college’s vision and strategic plan. The Director also partners with the College’s marketing/communications office, academic schools, and other units as well as the University’s undergraduate enrollment unit and also guides financial aid strategies to monitor and improve the retention of current students. A key emphasis for the role is overseeing the enrollment of a more diverse, inclusive student body in a challenging recruitment environment.

The Director will be responsible for developing, assessing, and responding to enrollment data and trends to address changing and emerging student markets. The Director will develop analyses and projections for admissions and enrollment and reports those trends to College leadership. Other responsibilities will include monitoring, tracking and reporting on admissions and enrollment statistics and coordinating with other University departments to provide needed services as well as presenting information in a variety of forums. The Director will also manage the creation and coordination of internal and external communications for consistency of message and College identity.

The Director will oversee the implementation of events and projects related to the enrollment management functions of Penn State Behrend and also those of the broader University. As Director of Enrollment Management in the digital age, the individual in this position will be charged with finding innovative ways to expand recruitment and enhance retention, including, but not limited to, the use of customer relationship management systems, communications technologies, and social media. In overseeing financial aid operations, the Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable University policies/procedures and state and federal laws (e.g., the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Title IV), and represent the College on various campus and University-wide committees.

The Director will develop, analyze, and manage the budget for the assigned areas of responsibility and oversee staff, including hiring, evaluating, and training. In addition to management functions, the Director directly participates in recruiting efforts and is expected to be available on evenings and weekends as needed and will need a valid driver's license. Employment will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

The successful candidate will have a master's degree plus a minimum of eight years of enrollment or related experience. The successful candidate should also have a demonstrated history of and commitment to data-informed decision making, a commitment to diversity and inclusion, a strong customer service orientation, a proven attention to detail, knowledge of applicable policies and procedures, evidence of experience collaborating with faculty and staff, and familiarity with contemporary software used to support enrollment management functions. Other desirable traits are a passion for student success and higher education, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work as a team member.
