UPMC Crisis Technician I (Casual- Safe Harbor Behavioral Health) in Erie, Pennsylvania
UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is excited to welcome a passionate and driven Crisis Technician I to our Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) team!
Safe Harbor's Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) is an 8-bed facility designed to provide an alternative to inpatient behavioral health care. Our multidisciplinary team—comprising registered nurses, CRNPs/PAs, master’s level therapists, technicians, and a discharge specialist—works collaboratively to offer comprehensive services such as medication management, therapeutic support (both group and individual), and essential referrals for ongoing care.
As our ideal candidate, you will possess a high school diploma and bring a strong desire to learn. While prior experience in behavioral health or crisis- related settings is a plus, it is not required. We will provide comprehensive training upon hire to ensure your success in this role!
This per diem position offers a business casual dress code and free on-site parking, ensuring a comfortable and convenient work environment. Responsibilities:
Assist with ADLs, hygiene and laundry.
Participate in staff meetings & interdisciplinary activities.
Manage crises with positive approaches.
Collaborate on treatment plans.
Complete documentation & paperwork.
Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
B.S. degree preferred .
Crisis experience preferred .
Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.
Provide direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 31 or Act 126 - must be obtained within 90 days. ASIST Certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer. CPR within 30 days of hire or transfer
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
