Duties

  • Ensure the projects meet all Seattle District's Safety Program, EM 385-1-1, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Corps of Engineers Occupational Safety and Health Management System (CESOHMS) objectives/requirements.
  • Conducts inspections, documents deficiencies, and works with employees and contractors to achieve and maintain compliance with all safety guidance.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages site-specific safety programs such as confined space entry, confined space rescue/retrieval, fall protection, hearing conservation and arc flash protection.
  • Subject matter expert for of all Federal and state regulations governing the handling of hazardous materials, disposal of hazardous waste, and related activities.
  • Conduct weekly, quarterly, and annual training for the entire project to meet OSHA, USACE, and other pertinent safety requirements.
  • Serves as Hazardous Waste Coordinator and is responsible for the collection, storage and disposal of hazardous wastes.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • FC-12 ACTEDS training is mandatory for personnel filling these positions. Incumbent must possess or complete FC-12 Level I Professional Certificate in Safety and Occupational Health (PCSOH) program within 24 months of appointment.
  • Pre-employment physical is required.
  • Position is under the Medical Surveillance Program.
