HCA Healthcare is dedicated to the growth and development of our colleagues. We will provide you with the tools and resources you need to succeed in our organization. The Wound Care Technician delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the Wound Care Technician assists the nursing staff in the Burn Service Line and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The Wound Care Technician complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

Here is some of what you can expect:

• You will obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, intake and output, and calorie counts.

• You will document observations, interactions, patient responses to performed activities, and any physical or behavioral changes at time of occurrence. Reports observations of individual patients to the RN/Team Leader.

• You will assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assists with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfers patients to and from other units, departments, or entities. Assists with discharges. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.

• You will provide or assist with non-medicated support care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, and venous compression devices.

• You will apply wound dressings as prescribed by the physician, under the direction of the RN.

• You will assist the physician, mid-levels, and RNs with complex dressing changes for any patient on the burn service line.

• You will perform clerical work as needed, including assembling, and maintaining charts, filing, answering, and transferring phones, and relaying messages.

Position Requirements:

• CNA certification with the state or Fundamentals of Nursing Course at accredited school.

• Current BLS Certification through AHA or ARC.

• High school diploma/GED required.

• 1+ years’ experience in an acute care setting preferred.

• Demonstrates good organizational skills.
