Job Duties and Responsibilities We are looking for an outstanding Principal Product Designer who has a track record of designing and building successful products that customers love and drive outcomes for the business. Product designers at Sling play a central role in the product development process, partnering closely with the product manager and engineers on their cross-functional product team to solve customer problems in an agile environment. Principal Designers are looked at as mentors and highly respected by their teams. Their influence is great — within and beyond their designated product area. You will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from high-level product strategy, to leading and facilitating user testing and discovery efforts, to ensuring the highest quality implementation before launch. You are passionate about working closely with customers and building empathy with users, and solving the most challenging design problems to deliver complete product experiences that help millions of people find, consume, and engage with the content they love, everywhere. This role is based in Sling’s Denver-area HQ office. Responsibilities Collaborate and drive alignment with partners in Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and other key stakeholders to design and deliver elegant but practical solutions that delight customers and work for the business Rapidly produce multiple solutions, from sketches, wireframes, and user flows to high-fidelity mockups and prototypes, depending on the level of detail needed to present and communicate proposed solutions and interaction flows that will resonate with our target audience Conduct user tests, research, and experiments to capture and understand real users’ motivations, goals, and pain points; facilitate design sprints and other discovery sessions as needed Dig into product analytics data, customer service contacts, and social media feedback to monitor current product usage patterns and identify future areas of enhancement Share vast expertise and advance the design perspective across the organization, including with the leadership team Actively mentor and critique others’ work to raise the bar on the organization’s design quality and standards Present your work to various stakeholders, explaining your creative process and how your final design aligns with the product goals Provide UX specs, assets, interactive prototypes and design requirements for engineering delivery QA development builds from a design perspective to ensure execution craftsmanship Skills, Experience and Requirements 8+ years of UX/UI design leadership with a history of shipping delightful and engaging experiences at a high-traffic consumer product organization Passion for digital video, streaming, and TV industries Extensive experience designing across mobile apps and web platforms; prior experience designing video products on connected TV devices (e.g. Roku, Amazon Fire TV) a plus Strong understanding of end-to-end user experience disciplines including UX strategy, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, user science, prototyping and front end development Deep knowledge of user research methodologies and lean, discovery-driven product design best practices, and the ability to effectively implement these practices Experience working with large scale design systems (styles, components, libraries) Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and effectively across all functions and levels of the org Obsession with customers and experience personally conducting user research, testing, and optimization High comfort level in analytics and generating customer insights from data trends to inform design decisions Kind, friendly and enjoy working with people to accomplish goals Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI or related fields - or equivalent professional experience Salary Range Compensation: $148,000.00/Year - $205,000.00/Year Compensation and Benefits We also offer versatile health perks, including flexible spending accounts, HSA, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, career opportunities, and a flexible time away plan; all benefits can be viewed here: DISH Benefits.   The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
