Job Summary and Qualifications

The AirLife Neonatal Team Transport Nurse utilizes their experience, education, and training to both autonomously and collaboratively deliver critical and specialty care to neonatal and newborn patients aboard fixed-wing aircraft, rotor wing aircraft, and ground ambulance between medical facilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Demonstrates good organizational skills

· Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills

· Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers

EDUCATION:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing • BSN preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years nursing experience in a Level III or IV NICU

• Transport experience preferred

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION:

· Current State of Colorado RN licensure

· BLS, NRP and PALS certifications required at time of hire

· Neonatal Pediatric Transport Certification (C-NPT) within 1 year of hire

· Must maintain all certifications throughout employment

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED

· Able to work independently and autonomously and complies with standards of practice, standards of care and regulatory requirements

ORIENTATION PERIOD

· Based on experience and continuous assessment of progress by Specialty Team Manager/Chief Flight Nurse, Educators and Medical Director’s. Orientation ranges between 12-24 weeks

· Orientation includes formal department orientation of 1-2 days during first 2 weeks of didactic orientation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

· Must be able to work in highly dynamic environment with exposure to noise, vibration and weather extremes

· Must be able to wear Night Vision Goggles (NVG’s) and helmets for extended periods of time in flight (weight of each helmet is approximately 3.64 pounds with the additional weight of the NVG’s of 1.84 pounds)

· Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs

· Maximum weight of 250 lbs with flight gear related to transport at altitude
