NBC Universal Senior Software Engineer (AWS CDK, TypeScript) in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey

NBCUniversal is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our Legal, Privacy, and Sustainability Platform Development and Reliability Engineering Organization within Corporate Technology. As a key member of the LPS PDRE Software Engineering team, you will play a critical role in architecting and developing the Privacy Platform. The platform will be designed to seamlessly integrate with various systems, enabling the stakeholders to efficiently manage privacy and compliance requests while upholding the highest standards of data protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a highly scalable, and resilient integration system using AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit) with TypeScript

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code and automated release management, ensuring the platform's scalability, and maintainability

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the Privacy Platform adheres to the highest security and compliance standards, safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining regulatory compliance across all processes.

  • Engage as part of an Agile scrum software development team contributing to scrum ceremonies and collaborating with product owners and other engineers

  • Foster a culture of excellence within the development team by championing code quality, performing code review, and adhering to best practices in software engineering

  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies related to event-driven architectures, workflow automation, and privacy compliance

  • Proactively propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance the platform's capabilities and adapt to evolving business needs

  • Quickly troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and remediate independently

  • Bachelor's degree required from a four-year college or university, or comparable workforce experience is required; majors in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field preferred

  • 5+ years of work experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on backend and middleware solutions, including API, compute, application-level networking, and security.

  • 3+ years of experience working with a Public Cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP), with at least 1+ year specifically in AWS.

  • Expertise in Typescript and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) with a strong understanding of SOLID design principles and API design and implementation.

  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and automated release management required (AWS CDK or at least CloudFormation strongly preferred)

  • Expertise with Git tooling and practices; GitHub Preferred

  • Understanding of essential networking concepts, including ports, protocols, subnet masks, and related fundamentals

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to design and implement efficient solutions to complex challenges in privacy workflow automation.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge and comfort with Agile development methodologies

  • AWS certification would be a strong plus, showcasing proficiency and expertise in AWS services.

  • Experience working remotely and with widely distributed teams

  • Experience with relational databases: querying, basic administration, development, etc. (PostgreSQL preferred)

  • Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
