TEKsystems Desktop Support Technician in Elmhurst, Illinois

Description

Our client is a full-service environmental consulting firm, offering environmental assessment, compliance management, permitting, air emissions testing and monitoring, and consulting services. The Information Technology Systems Group provides information technology programming, system administration, and daily employee/customer support. As an Information Technology Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for administration of the network system (25%), management of NOC equipment (10%), and providing help desk/technical support to end users including configuring/building equipment (65%). Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Tech support for the 5 offices ELmhurst (satellite offices in Denver, Vegas, Minneapolis, Crown Point IN)

  • Updating firmware on the SAN & VMware servers & Switches

  • Web-filter / VPN and getting that consistent

  • Network connectivity troubleshooting (someone who has an understanding working with networks)

  • Firewall – every aspect of the firewall, connectivity, research and resolve the problem with assistance from vendor

  • Management/Maintenance/Support of Company IP phone system

  • Administration of camera systems (partner with 3rd party vendors)

Troubleshooting computer hardware and software problems

• Maintaining computer and server upgrades at times

• Rebuilding of computers and laptops in order to meet specialized company requisites including spare laptops, data logger laptops, box truck desktops, and hotel desktops

• Virus/Malware/Trojan removals

• Documentation

• Management/Maintenance/Support of Company Spam firewall

• Management/Maintenance/Support of Company Network firewall

• Management/Maintenance/Support of Company IP phone system

• Purchasing, selling, and/or shipping of equipment through 3rd party websites

• Ownership of the IT Hardware/Software asset tracking database which includes logging of all IT equipment and maintaining an accurate list of where the equipment is deployed

• Configure computers for end users

• Support for end user applications and equipment:

  • Address and resolve “Help Desk” inquiries

 Provide technical hardware, software, and network problem resolution to end users through question/problem diagnosis, step-by-step guidance, and one-on-one end user training as needed

 Forward more complex end user problems to IT Manager

• IP Phone questions and support

• Computer room clean-up, wire management, and equipment storage

• Rendering of other and unrelated services and duties as may be assigned from time to time

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Strong interpersonal skills, willing to learn more and act as a "jack of all trades"

• Understanding of Microsoft Windows 10 Professional operational systems and newer systems as implemented

• The ability to work with technical support from various vendors (i.e. Dell, Fortinet, Barracuda)

• The ability to complete projects, on time and on budget.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Working knowledge of Networking (i.e. switches, firewalls, wifi APs)

• Working knowledge of VMware

• Administrator knowledge of Mitel IP phone systems is a plus

• Working knowledge of HCL Notes/Domino is a plus

• Aptitude in spyware/malware/virus removal, hardware, troubleshooting, and software upgrades

• Capable of comprehending instruction manuals in order to make minor repairs to computer equipment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
