Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lab Technician to join our team. This role involves navigating a plant environment to obtain and test liquid samples, ensuring adherence to FDA and plant standards. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, keeping the lab clean, and calibrating equipment daily. This is a great opportunity for growth within the company after a one-year contract.

Responsibilities

• Navigate plant environment to properly obtain liquid samples from silos using FDA and plant standards.

• Test samples using lab equipment and instruments, including tests for pH, acidity, freezing point, viscosity, and solid/fat percentages.

• Ensure samples remain within specification ranges.

• Document all tests with dates and signatures, maintaining cleanliness to prevent contamination.

• Refill lab supplies such as chemicals and pipets.

• Follow FDA and plant standards at all times.

• Calibrate equipment daily and handle various daily tasks.

• Receive phone calls from the dairy and different parts of the plant.

• Multitask throughout the day to ensure products and samples meet specifications.

Essential Skills

• BS in technical sciences.

• 1+ years working in a manufacturing environment.

• Ability to document and review quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in quality assurance and quality control.

• Knowledge of lab instrumentation and analytical chemistry.

• Familiarity with GMP, microbiology, titration, and inspection.

• Strong data entry skills.

Work Environment

This position is onsite at our Elma facility. The available shifts are 2nd shift (2pm - 10:30pm) and 3rd shift (10pm - 6:30am). Candidates must be flexible with time based on production and staffing needs, potentially working 6-day work weeks and 12-hour shifts (6am - 6pm or 6pm - 6am)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.75 - $23.25/hr.
