Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position:
The Senior CNC Programmer is responsible for utilizing CAD and CAM software to develop CNC machine tool programming with detailed instructions and documentation for machine tool operators. This role requires proficiency in the setup, operation, and programming of CNC machining centers and turning centers, including 5-axis programming for mills, lathes, and other advanced machining equipment. The Senior CNC Programmer ensures machining efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to engineering and quality specifications while supporting manufacturing operations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret engineering drawings and determine optimal machining methods to meet required part tolerances, fit, and finish.
- Develop G-code CNC programs for CNC mills and lathes using CAMWorks.
- Design and develop accurate and efficient fixtures for complex part production.
- Apply expertise in automated loading and unloading processes to support limited attendance machining.
- Utilize macro programming and machining macro development, including on-machine probing and part verification.
- Perform G-code simulation using software such as Vericut and analyze tool path simulations to ensure program accuracy.
- Create 3D models in SolidWorks as needed for CNC programming and fixture design.
- Prepare detailed machine tool setup sheets with operator instructions and visual aids.
- Provide hands-on support during initial machine tool setup, troubleshooting, and program optimization to ensure production efficiency.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks to support manufacturing, engineering, quality, and quoting departments.
- Competently use precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to JSTs quality program and procedures.
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design constraints and develop effective solutions.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned, which may occasionally fall outside the scope of this role.
Hourly Rate: \$43- \$50 depending on experience
Qualifications, Skills, and Experiences:
- Minimum 10 years of programming experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills and 4-axis CNC lathes with live tooling.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, CAMWorks, and Microsoft Office applications; strong PC literacy required.
- Hands-on machining experience with multi-axis mills and lathes, including machining exotic metals (e.g., Inconel, Titanium). Aerospace and medical industry experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of engineering blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Competent in shop math, including algebra and trigonometry.
- Familiarity with G-code simulation software and tool path validation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and effectively.
- A technical degree in a related field is preferred or equivalent experience.
