Electrical Engineer

Overview

This client is a small manufacturer of electromechanical consumer products. Due to growth, they are adding an Electrical Engineer to their team.

You’ll be part of the Product Development team, reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager. You’ll be responsible for electrical & hardware design as well as product certification. This will include all aspects of hardware product development, component specification, harness & PCB design, functional & product testing and UL/CE certification.

Responsibilities:

  • PCB design (circuit board design & layout)

  • Cable/wire harness design

  • Motion/mechanism control design

  • Component selection – sensors, microcontrollers, etc.

  • Research and development

  • Technical testing and troubleshooting – EMC/EMI Testing

  • Electronic testing design

  • Assures product quality

  • Works collaboratively with other design team members

  • Proposes modifications and re-tests products

  • Builds models and prototypes

  • UL & CE Compliance

  • Development of test methodology

  • Execute testing

  • Work with outside test labs & agencies to obtain certification

  • Resolve issues for both existing and new products in order to meet UL& CE certification requirements

  • Troubleshoots problems on the assembly line

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering required

  • 7+ years’ experience with electrical/electronic product development & design

  • Electronic hardware design including PCB layout, communication protocols (any kind)

  • Manage own projects, deadlines

  • Proficient with Altium or similar for PCB layout

  • Ability to read design specifications and technical drawings

  • Product certification/compliance certification experience required

  • Direct experience working with UL or Intertek test labs, a plus
