About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for automation, robotics, and process optimization to join our team as an Automation & Test Engineer. This individual should be mechanically strong and capable of designing automated assembly and test solutions while learning and adapting to electronics and programming languages as needed.
Our products involve a combination of mechanical and electronic components, and this engineer will be responsible for developing automated solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability in our manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in mechanical design but also be eager to work with robotics, vision inspection systems, and industrial automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop automated mechanical systems for assembly and testing.
Integrate robotics and vision inspection systems into manufacturing processes to enhance automation.
Develop and support software solutions using LabVIEW, C++, Visual Basic and Python, with the ability to learn and adapt to new programming languages as needed.
Work with data acquisition devices, sensors, and industrial automation hardware, even if learning some of these elements on the job.
Optimize systems for performance, safety, and cost efficiency to improve manufacturing processes.
Continuously improve designs based on performance data and feedback.
Provide upper-level troubleshooting support when first-level teams cannot resolve automation-related issues.
Document system designs, processes, and test results for internal use.
Provide technical support and training for process engineering teams and operators.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Strong background in mechanical engineering with experience designing automated systems.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing automation and mechanical components.
Ability to learn and apply electronic and programming concepts in automation projects.
Familiarity with robotics, motion control, and vision inspection systems in an industrial setting.
Hands-on experience with mechanical actuators, stepper motors, servo motors, and industrial automation hardware.
Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to developing and refining automation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to PLC programming, embedded systems, or industrial communication protocols (experience is a plus but not required).
Experience designing custom test fixtures and automation platforms.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
If you are a mechanical engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys learning electronics, programming, and automation on the fly, we encourage you to apply!
Join us in shaping the future of automated manufacturing and testing.
