Schools in and around the Elgin area are in need of a qualified Bilingual Speech Language Pathologists for this upcoming 24-25 school year!   • Location: Elgin, TX

  • Details: district wide position, all grades but mainly elementary! Supervising SLPA

  • Hybrid – needs to be in person for evals, therapy sessions, and SLPA direct supervision; remote for report writing/admin work, virtual meetings

  • Hours: M-F, 40 hrs/week

  • Start: 8/14/2024

  • Length: May 2025

The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting is responsible for performing student evaluations as well as providing and documenting therapy services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each individual student and the physician's orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses students’ communication skills (e.g. articulations, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment

  • Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines

  • Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, pre-referral staffing, etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training to parents/students/staff

  • Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (e.g. hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices, etc.)

  • Maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results, etc.)

  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, IEPs, team meetings, etc.)

  • Provides speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success • Seeks appropriate in-service and professional development

  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment required

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred and may be required by state/contract.

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
