ITW Tool and Die Maker 2nd Shift in Elgin, Illinois

Manufacturing/warehouse locations include Watertown, WI, Milwaukee, WI, Darlington, WI, Machesney Park, IL, Broadview, IL, Elgin, IL, Bedford Park, OH, and Iron Ridge, WI. We serve major OEMs and their tier suppliers direct and through distribution channels in the industrial market. Shift Time : 2:00 p.m. 10:30 p.m.

  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parks.

  • Computers dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.

  • Troubleshoot die problems to achieve maximum productivity.

  • Lift machined parts -position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable.

  • Smooth flat and contoured surfaces and power grinders, assemble parts together and install in assemblies and mechanisms.

  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.

  • Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part.

  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draw or sketch design of product.

  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all times.

  • Performance to comply with all company Procedures, Policies, Work Instructions, knowledge of internal and external requirements as well as accepted Automotive and OSHA requirements.

  • Assist in making improvements to the overall business using ITW operating principles.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High School diploma required.

  • Associates degree from a Technical College preferred.

  • Ability to read blueprints and to properly use precision measuring devices to ensure quality.

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements to include Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, and Authorized Lockout/Tagout Procedures.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Visual skills for accessing functionality of equipment and ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Understand and act in compliance with safety rules and regulations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 45 pounds.
