Aerotek Mechanical Assembler in Elgin, Illinois

Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

Candidate will be performing assembly of product. Work from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly cards. Use parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, hand, and power tools. Shim and final assemble units. Can work alone or with other assemblers and oversee lower-grade assemblers. May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Learn about gearboxes and all the components used in both assemblies and sub-assemblies.

  • Learn about pinions, torque arms, ring gears, and all the elements that make up product they produce.

  • Disassemble the gearboxes using torque wrenches or impact guns as required.

  • Locate and write down the serial number from each individual part during disassembly.

  • Wash parts to remove wax coating for corrosion protection.

  • Heat parts in an oven to facilitate assembly.

  • Attach specific addons like pumps, wires, and cables as per customer requirements using an impact wrench.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with assembly, mechanical assembly, and using hand and power tools.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Basic math skills, including the ability to explain tool sizes and names.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an assembler in some capacity.

Work Environment

Work in a modern, clean, and well-lit facility that follows the 5S methodology. The facility is climate-controlled and organized by departments with spacious aisles. Contractors are provided with shirts and are advised to wear jeans/pants that can get dirty. Safety is a top priority, with a requirement to wear safety glasses and masks at all times on-site. Join a flexible and supportive team where effort is recognized, and mistakes are opportunities for growth. Shift schedule: 2nd Shift: 2 PM - 10 PM with two 20-minute paid breaks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, Illinois.

The pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90
