ITW Shakeproof has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at our Elgin facility. ITW Shakeproof Automotive serves all the major Automotive OEMs and their tier suppliers with metal fasteners totaling approximately $160M in revenues.
Job Description
Position Summary:
This position is a paid internship for the summer of 2025. The internship will be based in our Elgin, IL plant and will report directly to a Manufacturing Engineer. The primary deliverables are to support die redesign and segment part manufacturing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the design, development process improvements of new and existing products and equipment.
Drive improvement in manufacturing processes through the use of Lean principles.
Conduct ongoing analyses manufacturing processes to identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
Assist in new product development and modifications and revisions to existing products.
Participate in coordination and implementation of capital projects
Investigate and install new methods, layouts, equipment and process analysis that improve overall operation of the plant.
Develop and implement standardization of processes.
Assist in troubleshooting processes which are prone to be frequent or major production problems.
Other tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Student (incoming freshman to senior)
Excellent mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
Self-motivated with a high attention to detail
Excellent time management skills and project management abilities
Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with others

Compensation Information:
Illinois law requires pay information in job postings. The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location. The specific hiring rate within the posted pay range will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. The pay range is $21.89 (entry-level qualifications) to $28.90 (highly experienced).
