Job Description

Raytheon Intelligence and Space is the leading provider of radar sensor systems. We provide war fighters the most accurate and timely information available for the network-centric battlefield. This position is specifically for a Senior Principal level Systems Engineer to provide engineering leadership to the systems, software, integration & test, and technology transition teams as part of the F18 Global Strike Radar department.

The highly qualified candidate should possess career experience in technology development and demonstrate technical knowledge in radar algorithm/mode techniques. The position will influence the technical performance of all Systems Engineering activities and will assume the responsibility of all engineering decisions impacting system development, integration, verification, and work products delivery while ensuring the product meets all technical specifications, operational requirements and customer expectations. Responsibilities include:

  • Establish a technology development vision and construct a plan to achieve goals

  • Creation of all SE work products and associated analyses that document the system design

  • Ensuring systems engineering (SE) technical integrity

  • Generation and review/approval of all technical CDRLs

  • Provide technical direction to the teams and support the professional development of team members and ensure senior technical personnel "pass on" knowledge to more junior personnel

  • Development of mathematical algorithms for signal processing

  • Performance predictions and analysis of data received from sensors on various platforms

  • Perform technical and programmatic presentations to both internal and external customers

  • Technical team leadership participating in technical peer reviews throughout the product lifecycle of design, development, integration and test, and flight test activities

  • Participate in design reviews, gate reviews, trade studies and other program/customer reviews as required to keep the team on track

  • Provide day to day direction for all engineering teams in the development and execution of the team’s scope of work

  • Support new/follow-on business proposals and ROMs as required by the program

  • Provide development feedback and information back to functional organizations

  • Interface with the CE, IPTLs, team members, and other functions on a regular basis

    Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of Systems Engineering (or equivalent) experience

  • Demonstrated understanding of airborne radar systems and their principals of design, development, requirements, I&T, Operation, and/or Flight Test

  • Strong mathematical problem solving ability and data analysis experience

  • Experienced with engineering analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python)

  • Experienced with collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence)

  • Strong Microsoft office skills (Office, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to work independently and determine/develop approaches to solutions

  • Experience in preparing and delivering briefings to internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with program leadership

  • Existing DoD Secret clearance

  • US Citizenship

    Desired Skills

  • Experience with leading technical teams in advanced radar development efforts

  • Worked a design development program using Agile Framework methodology

  • Skilled at anticipating problems and planning to mitigate them

  • Experience establishing and maintaining a technical baseline, and leading proactive change control of that baseline

  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills, experience interfacing with senior customer technical representatives and company executive leadership

  • History of influencing non-engineering functions to improve the overall success of the program

  • Experience with software modes and data collection methodologies with the corresponding phenomenology artifacts

  • Capability to influence technology development

  • Experience writing tech volumes, bidding, and/or generating basis of estimate documentation

  • Experience writing white papers and responding to requests for information (RFIs)

  • Work experience with one of the following areas related to radar systems: search or track, surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic protection, electronic warfare, ID, or adaptive techniques

  • Experience with mentoring engineers Radar Systems

Required Education:

  • BS in Engineering, Sciences, or Mathematics or similar STEM discipline

    Desired Education

  • MS in Engineering, Sciences, Mathematics, or Management or similar STEM discipline
