Robert Half Hybrid Payroll Tax Specialist in El Segundo, California

Description

We are offering a role in the healthcare, hospitals, and social assistance industry located in El Segundo, California. This opportunity is in the function of a Payroll Specialist. The role involves a combination of in-office and remote work with a focus on maintaining compliance in payroll tax processes across multiple jurisdictions, among other tasks. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Work location: El Segundo, CA office. Tues & Thurs in the office 7:30 AM-4:00 PM. Mon, Wed and Fri - remote

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local jurisdictional regulations related to payrolls processed.

• Manage the Dimensions hours processes, guaranteeing timely and accurate payments.

• Act as the primary liaison to Tax, supporting all corporate tax requests.

• Process manual off-cycle payments including but not limited to terminations and severance payments.

• Research and resolve all tax notices for multi-state entities.

• Play a critical role during quarter end and year-end when task volume increases with specific responsibilities, including those ADP does not do.

• Reconcile quarterly and annual ADP tax filings, and ensure accurate Form W-2 reporting.

• Process Form W-2Cs and manage errors reported by ADP, amending tax return(s), as necessary.

• Balance Wage and Tax Registers to Register Recaps on a quarterly basis.

Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services

• Familiarity with Ceridian, IBM AS/400, and Kronos Timekeeping System

• Knowledge of 401k - RRSP Administration and About Time

• Proficiency in Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Understanding of Payroll Taxes

• Experience with ADP - Payroll

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

• Relevant certifications in payroll management would be an advantage.
