The Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has multiple openings for Director Test Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. These positions are located in Palmdale, CA Melbourne, FL. OKC, San Diego, or El Segundo.
Directors of Test Engineering are responsible for all Functional Homeroom support within the specialties of Flight Test, Ground Test, Lab Test and Test Resourcing, to enable and ensure success of NGAS Programs in need of testing functions. While each selected Director will be experienced in their specialty (e.g. Flight Test or Lab Test, etc.) - each Director is expected to understand test philosophies of systems and air vehicles, program lab infrastructure, lab operations, as well supporting testing and integration activities. These positions report to the Aeronautics Sector Test & Evaluation Senior Director. These positions are responsible test personnel at multiple locations across the continental United States. Some travel may be required depending on program needs (up to 25% of time). These positions are located full-time onsite; remote/hybrid options are not available.
Primary Duties include:
Act as the Technical Discipline Lead for respective function (Flight Test, Ground Test, Lab Test or other Test Resourcing)
Development of long-range strategic planning to include trained and qualified staff
Provide Test engineering oversight and support on Program Reviews and process improvement initiatives (RCCA investigations, FRRs, TRRs)
Act as a strategic partner on the senior leadership team and work closely with Programs to ensure expectations are communicated and met
Foster Leadership development within Test and Evaluation teams
Develop knowledge transfer and retention strategies
Development and execution of process improvements and affordability strategies in Test and Evaluation.
The Selected Candidate must be willing to work any shift depending on the business needs.

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in flight, ground, system, or lab test, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in flight, ground, system, or lab test
Must have at least 6 years leadership/management experience
Experience managing a budget and cost schedule; budgetary experience can include program management (P&L), project management, Control Account Manager (CAM), comptroller experience, or equivalent positions.
Must have an active DOD Secret clearance with an investigation in the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Special Program Access (SAP)
Master’s Degree in Technical Field (STEM) or Business Administration.
Proven record of developing & implementing action plans to improve strategic growth using continuous improvement techniques spanning across a large organization.
Military or Civil Test Pilot School Graduate
Flight Line Maintenance/Operations Experience and/or Laboratory Test Experience
Salary Range: $190,600 - $286,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
