Supports the program director by performing administrative duties related to planning, directing, and coordinating both the academic and operational activities of the program

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates acceptance of candidates into medical fellowship programs, to include, processing applications, scheduling interviews, handling candidate evaluations, and reporting matching programs.

  • Employee will be required to complete this process within established deadlines.

  • Element to be considered will be Accuracy, thoroughness and neatness of work performed.

  • All files and records must be kept in an organized and orderly fashion to allow easy access to other staff members covering in a time of absence.

  • Develops, maintains, and coordinates clinical rotation schedules for fellows at the teaching hospital and/or off-site training programs, in conjunction with the Fellowship Program Director.

  • Knowledge of General Surgery Residency/Fellowship Program (5-year program) requirements.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Coordinates training/lecture programs and records evaluation of training programs.

  • Computer, Telephone Employee will be required to complete this process within all established deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of medical residency/fellowship operating principles and procedures

  • Highly organized in planning and scheduling techniques

  • Knowledge of ACGME residency accreditation and certification requirements/standards

  • Research experience preferred

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

  • Ability to operate personal computer, familiar with various software programs
