Position Description:
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operations of the entry referral management process. Employees in this position are responsible for creating and maintaining database by entering new and updated patient and account information in all systems. Organizing, updating, and maintaining all incoming documentation pertaining to referral process.

Major/Essential Functions:
Retrieves and sorts all incoming e-fax documentation pertaining to referral process appropriately
Uploads referrals and supportive documentation into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) appropriately in a timely manner
Distributes external referrals in our referral management system in a timely manner according to set RMS process in order to meet department goals and expectations
Ensures patient demographic and health insurance information is up to date and updates accordingly as needed
Collaborates with external referring providers to ensure complete and accurate patient health insurance information is in place and up to date on patient's record. Contacts referring providers to obtain updated or missing information as needed
Verifies insurance coverage and identifies if visit requires prior authorization in a timely manner
Processes referrals in a timely and efficient manner by following set processes for the department in order to meet department goals and expectations
Verifies and updates managed care plan and/or insurance information into patient chart accurately
Assists in training RMS new hire on job duties and expectations
Adheres to all TTUHSC EP policies, procedures and processes
Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork)

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of basic office equipment and computer skills (PC, Telephone, 10-key, Excel, Power Point and Word)
Knowledge of the various managed care plans and private insurances
Knowledge of referral and authorizations process
Strong communication skills
Ability to interact effectively and efficiently with others
Ability to work in a busy, fast paced environment
Ability to understand and follow direction
Some knowledge of medical procedures
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of people
Ability to work well with different levels of staff
Willing to work extended hours and on occasions on Saturday
