SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Personal Care Attendant is a member of the multi-disciplinary team. The primary function of the Personal Care Attendant (PCA) is to provide personal care attendant services i.e., bathing, dressing, grooming, hair and skin care, exercise, feeding, toileting, transfers, ambulation, cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, escorting, shopping, and assistance with self administered medications, when appropriate. The PCA assists in providing a safe and clean environment and works cooperatively with client. The PCA shares observations and problems with his/her supervisor. Service is provided through hourly care to stable clients with non-medical needs, and is under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse.

El asistente de cuidado personal es un miembro del equipo multidisciplinario. La funcin primaria del asistente de cuidado personal (Por sus siglas en Ingles PCA) es proveer servicios de cuidado personal y asistir con: el bao, vestir, preparar alimentos, ayudar a comer, cuidado del cabello y de la piel, ejercicio, llevar al sanitario, transferir, ambular, limpieza, lavado de ropa, acompaar, hacer compras, y ayudar con la auto-administracin medicamentos cuando sea apropiado. El PCA ayuda en proveer un ambiente seguro y limpio y trabaja cooperativamente con el cliente. El PCA comparte sus observaciones y problemas observados con su supervisor. El servicio de cuidado se proporciona por hora a los clientes estables de necesidades no-mdicas, y est bajo supervisin directa o indirecta de una enfermera registrada.
