Major/Essential Functions:
Provides academic and clinical instruction within the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing
Plans, coordinates, and conducts classroom and clinical experiences for students
Reports directly to programmatic assistant dean, associate dean or the dean of the school of nursing
Maintains academic standards, as established by the school and the university
Teaches students in the clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings
Assumes responsibility for and/or participates in the planning and organization of courses to which assigned
Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students
Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities
Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching
Plans professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offerings, workshops, professional meetings, etc. and participates in programs, school and university committees, and in other activities associated with professional status
Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties
Maintains membership in and participates in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations
Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures
Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission
Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the Guidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank
Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of senior clinical leadership experience (Chief Nursing Officer, AVP/VP, Director) and demonstrate competency in content area of nursing leadership/administration
Certification (CNML, NE-BC, CENP).
Two years of teaching experience or mentoring graduate students
Demonstrates scholarship in teaching (case studies, integration of evidence into teaching, develops new teaching methods, creates clinical simulations, etc.)

Required Qualifications:
D.N.P. or Ph.D. degree in Nursing or related discipline from an accredited program
Eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, or compact state recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing.
Minimum of two years teaching experience in an accredited college or university with nursing program accreditation.
