For our location in Eindhoven or Brussels:

Were looking for a Sr Accountant for our Benelux sales office, being part of the local finance team and North West Europe accounting team.

You will act as the local controller and will work with the local mgmt. team as well as the FSSC and CoE/BPO teams. This is a unique opportunity to broaden your functional expertice in a sales organisation, getting business insights by working with the different operating units and broaden your knowledge by being an all-round local finance partner.

This position serves as a Finance Partner providing technical Accounting and Finance recommendations to the Country Finance Leader and to the local management team in the Benelux. We are seeking a Sr. Accountant with functional expertise, to drive financial results, deliver finance functional excellence and to ensure that statutory reporting requirements are met.

As the Sr. Accountant of Medtronic Benelux, you will support the Country Finance Leader in financial management to ensure financial objectives are achieved. You will also ensure that fiduciary responsibilities are fulfilled through accurate financials, sound governance and compliant practices in the organization. This role will partner closely with other local functions as well as the FSSC and CoE teams BPO teams.

This role reports to the Country Finance Leader, Benelux. You will be a member of the North West Europe Financial Controllers team as well as the Benelux finance team

A Day in the Life

Finance Operation, Control and Compliance

  • Coordinate with Financial Shared Service Centres (FSSC) and Centres of Expertise (CoE) on closing activities, US-GAAP and local-GAAP to report accurate financials

  • Maintain adequate internal control framework to enforce company policy and ensure sound governance and complied practice in cooperation with guidance from the Regional Controller

  • Working closely with FSSC, ensure that all external statutory reporting and tax requirements are met in a timely and qualitative manner

  • SME on revenue recognition to ensure compliance

  • Identifying updated requirements for statutory reporting and tax, ensuring that relevant CoE and FSSC teams are informed.

  • Strong understanding of all Balance Sheet items and involvement in regular Balance Sheet reviews, including identifying risks and opportunities

  • Manage local finance responsibilities associated with rebates (currently being defined)

  • Support Country Finance Leader by bringing a strong understanding of Free Cash Flow to the Benelux business leadership and ensure that targets are achieved through strong working capital and PL management

  • Deliver finance-for-non finance training courses.

  • Drive local compliance of CoE BPO managed processes and improvement initiatives

  • Identify process improvement initiatives and implement them in liaison with the FSSC and CoEs, BPO , Regional Controller and local functions to ensure finance operation efficiency and effectiveness

  • Manage local finance implications of business acquisitions with FSSC

  • Regional subject matter expert for a specific workstream e.g. inventory, rebates, collections, PO pending

  • In conjunction with Country Finance Leader, be the Medtronic finance representative for all local authorities/agencies in the Benelux, including external auditors, banks, tax authorities, tax and financial advisors, etc

  • In-country finance contact person for internal stakeholders (e.g. internal auditors, FSSC, CoEs etc)

  • Sharing best practice and working as a pro-active member of North West Europe Controllers team.

  • Analyze financial statements (PL/Balance Sheet) and oversight of reconciliation of accounts to ensure accuracy and adherence to USGAAP and statutory requirements

  • Responsible for other miscellaneous local reporting obligations e.g. Office of National Statistics

  • Ad hoc support of various accounting and finance process initiatives fx. special projects, mergers, divestiture, acquisitions, sourcing and facility.

  • Education and Experience: Requires an Accounting qualification and/or University Degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience of working within a US corporate structure and within a European matrix structure is highly beneficial.

  • Technical knowledge: Strong financial and accounting knowledge.

  • Language: Fluent in English, both written and spoken

  • Travel: Willing to travel (within Benelux)

  • Please note that for this position, relocation support is not provided. Preferably, we are looking for candidates that live within a max 80km radius of our Medtronic office in Eindhoven, the Netherlands or Brussels, Belgium.
