ARCATA ASSOCIATES,INC. Field Service Engineer - Range Tracking Systems WBS 150 in Edwards, California
The Range Tracking Systems Field Service Engineer is accountable to the Range Tracking Systems (RTS) Work Group Lead (WGL) for the overall support of in-scope work in WBS 150. This includes providing technical support to ensure timely completion of work while meeting or exceeding quality standards.
This position receives technical guidance from the Work Group Lead and the Range Operations and Maintenance Manager. Work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support telemetry, radar and data processing system operations as required
- Assign work to the employees in the section and recommend training as required
- Implement quality procedures and work instructions
- Configure and calibrate the systems for mission support utilizing a preflight procedure; recognize and report, troubleshoot and repair any anomaly
- Interface with Range control and operations personnel in a professional manner, using proper communications protocol
- Utilize various test equipment such as RF and fiber power meters, oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, signal generators and spectrum analyzers
- Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits to component level without supervision
- Utilize PC-based peripheral systems in daily performance of job requirements
- Develop and update configuration drawings in Visio
- Maintain daily operation logs, mission database, preventive maintenance records and adhere to the Dryden Aeronautical Test Range (DATR) configuration control process
- Perform preventive maintenance on the systems as required
- Provide sustaining and developmental engineering on telemetry, radar and data communications systems
- Train and mentor lower-level personnel
- Perform other related duties as required by management to include supporting other work centers during surges. This may include cross training into other function areas to meet overall contract performance objectives. Assist with housecleaning and vehicle cleaning activities. Organize and track spare inventory. Shall be required to support safety, environmental or tower climbing activities.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field. Completion of formal training in an accredited radar or telemetry systems course may be considered in lieu of an associate degree.
Experience:
Six years of related work experience with an emphasis in radio frequency (RF), radar systems, or telemetry systems operations and maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

- Ability to identify tasks and assign priorities.
- Computer system literacy. Ability to effectively use desktop Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Outlook.
- Technical familiarity with the equipment operated and maintained at the DATR or similar equipment is desired.
- Successful completion of the NASA soldering course.
- General knowledge of Government contracting.
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Security Clearance.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.

: RF and servo theory, radar or telemetry fundamentals, power calculations, conversions and electronic formulas, test equipment use and application, computer hardware, basic software application and data interfaces.
