Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the supervisor will manage, direct, and lead the hourly employees to meet the specific goals established for their area that corresponds to the overall company objectives. The goals will be achieved by focusing on process, quality, costs and safety metrics. Supervise and coordinate the work for manufacturing & Inventory Control departments while focusing in on continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities
• Ensure employees have the proper training, skills, and tools to work safety.
• Create and sustain a safe work environment.
• Maintain compliance with industrial workplace safety and health regulations.
• Identify improvement opportunities for safety, and either lead or recommend corrective action.
• Manage the employee safety program on an ongoing basis.
• Manage and maintain Powell inventory accuracy & cycle count requirements.
• Complete root cause investigation & corrective action to inventory discrepancies.
• Manage excess and obsolete material investigation, corrective action & disposition aligned with Powell policy.
• Ensure employees have the proper training, skills, and tools to perform work which follows the documented Powell inventory & cycle counting procedures.
• Prepare workforce for ongoing Quality & Finance Audits.
• Implement process improvements designed to improve inventory control metrics, with assistance from Manufacturing.
• Maintain quality document file system for internal & external audit requests.
• In cooperation with production control, manage assets and people effectively to achieve established objectives.
• Meet or exceed financial objectives such as overtime allowance and variable department expenses.
• Effectively manage employee payroll system for each department.
• Ensure Powell fixed assets, such as building and equipment, are properly utilized and maintained.
• Develop and deliver effective communications with direct reports, teams, other functions, departments, and other internal and external contacts, as required.
• Lead and conduct effective meetings.
• Administer Powell policy and procedures consistently.
• Maintain accurate training records.
• Develop individuals and work teams such that they can operate effectively with minimal supervision.
• Create an environment where employees can grow and develop into greater levels of contribution.
• Develop and administer performance evaluations.
• Effectively manage performance.
• Act as a change agent; Lead and influence employees at all levels in and through the change process.
Minimum Qualifications
• AA or BS degree plus 3 years of experience/or a minimum of 7 years of manufacturing experience
• 5 years of experience in a leadership role with responsibility of a small team of direct or indirect reports within a manufacturing environment.
• 5 years of experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and Environmental regulations and employment laws.
Working Conditions
Safety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses and respirators) when required.
Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders, and all-size extension ladders).
Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment.
Working around loud machinery.
Physical Requirements
Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.
Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.
Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.
