In conjunction with their manager and/or director, the Supervisor, Team Lead Applications Analyst supervises and participates in the gathering of business requirements, conducting needs assessments, and developing functional specifications and builds to ensure that developed information technology (IT) solutions support business objectives across Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH). Works independently and supports and acts as a resource to a team of Application Analysts.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Supervisor, Team Lead Applications Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
Oversees as well as participates in the project management cycle for all software implementation, maintenance and support processes.
Directs software building, testing and support tasks within the team, and among other Information Technology work groups, other departments within the organization, and vendors.
Provides application expertise and guidance to the team and promotes staff development.
Makes recommendations and assists with the development of departmental policies and procedures as well as departmental and organizational process improvement efforts.
Promotes teamwork, facilitates inter-team and intra-team communication.
Takes positions of leadership when installing/upgrading new/existing applications and components, configuring application settings and validating work performed by lower level Application Analysts.
Operates as an escalation point for related application issues related to team efforts and tasks.
Provides go-live support for users on new applications, modules, and functionality.
Oversees and/or performs analysis of necessary application modifications and works with IT associates and/or the vendor to coordinate the modification.
Analyzes business/clinical needs and requirements.
Interprets end user requirements by fully discussing potential options and helping clients move towards optimal solutions.
Evaluates the operational workflow that is applied to the system.
Creates system specifications from user requirements.
Creates test plans and tests new systems, version upgrades, and any system modifications.
Documents all outcomes of testing. Reviews lower level Application Analysts test plans and documented outcomes for consistency and thoroughness.
Responsible for application implementation, troubleshooting, and support.
Presents oral and written communications to project teams and other departments.
Updates system, operational, and department documentation.
Recommends areas for process improvements.
Provides on-call support for applications.
Functions as a preceptor for new staff in the department.
Responsible for performing Payroll duties.
Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of assigned applications analysts team members, including but not limited to the prioritization of work, coordination of resources, and performance reviews.
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Adheres to HMH's competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of related IT experience.
Minimum of 7+ years of IT experience preferably in healthcare or related field(s).
Demonstrated project management skills.
Knowledge of advanced techniques, theories and processes to complete work.
Team player and ability to multitask in a progressive environment.
Ability to interact with all levels of organization and staff in one to one settings and group presentations.
Ability to organize and coordinate actions of small groups to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Works independently and effectively manages time unsupervised.
Strong desktop skills including spreadsheets, diagrams, presentation, and other collaboration suite tools.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Creates and maintains clear, concise documentation.
Collaborates with other team members across the department.
Ability to organize and coordinate the actions of a team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Demonstrates self-direction.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Preferred experience in leadership with project management.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Requirements are consistent and based on the area of coverage within Information Technology and HMH: a) For EPIC applications: Certification by EPIC in the EPIC application/module pertinent to the team. b) For Other IT applications: Professional Certifications relevant to the team.
