Brown-Forman Engineering Project Manager (18 month FTC) in Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Meaningful Work From Day One

Complete responsibility for conception, analysis, design, justification and management of engineering projects involving multi million dollar capital expenditure. Responsibility for technical leadership and implementation of innovative procedures, equipment, and processes, as related to electrical distribution, controls, packaging, processing, and utility systems. Leadership of Production related risk management and safety integration to projects and control systems.

Identifies, evaluates, develops, designs, and implements plant improvements, expansion projects, bottling and packaging systems optimization, process and control system changes, and new technologies to achieve increased productivity, enhanced manufacturing flexibility and capacity, improved product quality, safety, environmental compliance, and risk management.

What You Can Expect

Production/Safety/Quality/Environmental:

  • Ensures Brown-Forman Global Production and government regulatory safety and compliance standards are adhered to on all jobs.

  • Provide technical engineering consultation, assistance, and leadership to plant personnel and staff departments regarding electrical controls and instrumentation, risk management and safety integration, process monitoring systems, and HMI (human machine interface) applications

  • Devise and champion innovative methods of adding value by keeping abreast of relevant best-in-class processes and technologies to ensure BRDO is at the leading edge of associated advances through a close working relationship with operational leadership and team members on site.

  • Support B-F CQV process in collaboration with the B-F management teams.

Leadership/Planning Administration:

  • Prepare critical path project schedule and coordination of plant production scheduling, equipment vendors/manufacturers, outside contractors, and plant personnel to ensure compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Assist plant Leadership teams with developing five year plans through identification of appropriate process, compliance and equipment improvement opportunities.

  • Manage project installation/construction, start‐up, commissioning, and the effective transfer of technology and training to plant operating personnel.

  • Ensures adherence to the financial plan for all projects and works closely with finance teams to ensure clarity on budgets throughout the duration of each project.

  • Provide project progress reports to the B-F leadership teams, identifying opportunities, risks and any remedial action plans as required.

  • Interface with plant managers and operating and maintenance personnel to provide hands‐on situational troubleshooting expertise, technical leadership, and project management expertise on plant project initiatives and operational improvement opportunities

  • Lead the development of new or improved electrical PLC (programmable logic controller) and computer controls, process monitoring and production data recording, and HMI systems. Initiate and champion the applications of beneficial technologies into plant operations.

HR Management:

Financial Management

  • Provide project management on multi-million-dollar capital projects, including scope definition, capital cost, operating cost savings development, investment justification, system design, cost value analysis, equipment design specifications, engineering design specifications, supervision and management of outside vendors, consulting engineers and contractors.

  • Ensures adherence to project scope, budget, schedule, and anticipated performance results.

  • Prepare capital cost estimates and determine applicable cost savings, financial feasibility, capital risk, and IRR/NPV cash flow analysis for new equipment, construction, and modification to existing operations and systems.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor's degree (or Equivalent); Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Experience in project engineering or plant engineering.

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Knowledge of COMAH and DSEAR regulations.

  • Machinery Safety Regulations & standards.

  • Works effectively in diverse work groups.

  • Demonstrated equipment/process troubleshooting skills.

  • Familiarity with networking and computing communications protocols.

  • Experience in industrial control software system, software, and applications, Siemens and/or Allen Bradley platforms, with an emphasis on ability to adapt and learn additional platforms.

  • Experience with design specification, layout, and operation of packaging and process systems.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

What Makes You Unique

  • Experience working in a packaging or related environment preferably in Food and Beverage.

  • Experience with Auto-Cad.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound business judgment to project initiatives.

  • Experience with Virtualized Hypervisors (ESXi, Vcenter) and virtual machines.

  • Familiarity with OT network concepts, implementation, design and management.
