The Director, Supply Chain Data Engineering is accountable and responsible for the infrastructure of Optum Health’s supply chain data. This includes data ingestion, transformation, and organization to manage procurement operations. This role also has responsibility for the back-end data operations of the Procure To Pay tool and ensuring there are no lapses in service due to data issues. To succeed in this role, the candidate must partner closely with Optum Health Supply Chain analysts, off-shore developers, external vendor partners, and front-line end users of Optum Health’s Procure to Pay software.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates solid collaboration skills and a service excellence / servant leadership mentality

  • Lives and incorporates the UHG values in their daily work

  • Forms high performance relationships with Care Delivery Organizations, enterprise teams, subject matter experts and suppliers

  • Demonstrates exceptional experience in vendor relationships interacting with senior vendor leaders and works collaboratively with partners to achieve desired outcomes

  • Creates and maintains technical documentation and provides guidance for technical documentation

  • Approaches new projects with a consulting mindset to help craft the best solutions with available information

  • Diligent in tracking down answers and experienced in navigating a complex organization to uncover and resolve issues

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support procurement operations

  • Oversee off-shore development and provides guidance to help scale data operations and accelerate progress

  • Integrate data from various data sources including Procure to Pay systems, inventory management systems, item catalogs, contract repositories, and external industry datasets into a source of truth data environment

  • Collaborate closely with BI Developers to co-create requirements and perform transformations for the creation and management of dashboards and reports

  • Consistently reviews data infrastructure and processes for optimization opportunities and scalability issues

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in SQL and ETL processing

  • 8+ years using coding languages to access web-based or on-premise data sources

  • 6+ years of experience in cloud databases (Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure)

  • 6+ years of managing development teams (on-shore or off-shore)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Machine learning, predictive analytics, or any AI experience

  • Experience with Procure to Pay or ERP systems such as Coupa, PremierConnect, Oracle Netsuite/Fusion/iProcure, SAGE etc.)

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
