Talbot County Public Schools Digital Media Specialist in Easton, Maryland

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors degree in Digital Media, Communications, Graphic Design, Journalism, or related field.
  2. Three or more years of relevant experience in communications, web design, digital content creation and management.
  3. Demonstrated writing and editing skills. Attention to detail is essential.
  4. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and the public.
  5. Demonstrated technology skills including WordPress, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video and editing tools.
  6. Experience in website/content management various internet applications, social media management, google tools, and social media, web and google analytics.
  7. Ability to be creative, work independently and in a team environment, multi-task at a high level, and meet deadlines.
  8. Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings.

REPORTS TO: Director of Communications

JOB GOAL: The Communications and Digital Media Coordinator plans, creates, and produces digital and print content that aligns with the districts priorities and the Superintendents initiatives. The Coordinator supports family and community engagement through social media, communications platforms, and the website to create and maintain the digital presence of Talbot County Public Schools. They ensure that the TCPS website contains information that is relevant, timely and showcases the district, leadership, students, staff and the Board of Education. They prepare professional and appealing materials for district level presentations, publications, and events.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain the Talbot County Public Schools website so that it remains current, user friendly, accessible and informative. Suggest, develop, and implement enhancements to the website in collaboration with the Technology Department and outside consultants and vendors.
  2. Collaborate with Director of Communications in creating and implementing communications strategies for district level initiatives, programs and events.
  3. Monitor school and department web pages for accurate, timely content and assist schools and TCPS departments with their pages as needed.
  4. Manage the Talbot County Public Schools social media presence. Create content for district Facebook, Instagram, X(Formerly Twitter) and Linked In, celebrating TCPS students, Leadership, educators, and Board of Education.
  5. Coordinate production and distribution of weekly Superintendents Update e newsletter and support production of Monthly Team Huddle employee e newsletter.
  6. Effectively utilize digital communication tools including, but not limited to SchoolMessenger, Remind, Smore, Google, Mach Forms and others as deemed necessary.
  7. Assist with design, layout, and production of District level marketing materials, publications and presentations.
  8. Photograph and/or video events and activities for press releases, digital communications and publications.
  9. Create digital programming such as videos, podcasts, and PowerPoint/google slide presentations for district level initiatives as needed by the Superintendent and Cabinet.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Exempt 12-month position. Salary to be established by the Board.
